Your own little piece of paradise; your own garden hammock.

Posted by admin on Nov 28, 2009

A garden hammock are a great place to shut yourself off from the worries of modern life and simply relax. Many cultures worldwide make use of hammocks in a massive variety of ways. How does a soft garden hammock for finding a tranquil paradise in your own backyard sound? Or a versatile camping hammock for the height of comfort while camping? A fine outdoor hammock on your deck overlooking a magnificent ocean? What about a luxurious hammock bed for the best night sleep of your life?

The garden hammock and outdoor hammock have been used extensively throughout Central America for millennia to keep cool and comfy on hot, tropical nights. Being raised from the ground meant greater exposure to air and so the body was cooled easier. In order to survive the harsh conditions of the Amazonian basin, people slept in special a kind of cocoon-like hammock bed that was treated with natural insect repellents. Being high off the ground meant that the moisture from the ground wouldn’t affect them and the creepy crawlies couldn’t get to them.

Did you know that the garden hammock has been used in Europe since the 5th Century BC? One of Socrates students, Alcibiales, is accredited their design in European culture. And these Greek philosophers were smart guys right? They gave us math, medicine, science and – most importantly – the hammock!

The benefits of a garden hammock, camping hammock or any indeed any hammock have been known for longer than anybody can remember. Native American peoples have been using them forever and Alcibiades has the math and science to prove their comfort and chiropractic qualities! Don’t miss out on your chance to indulge in an opulent comfort that to this day remains unchallenged. We offer only the best hammocks and at the lowest prices, so let us do the hard work to put you in the best position of your life.

The difference between a portable hammock and a camping hammock

Posted by admin on Dec 15, 2009

When looking for a hammock some people get confused by a lot of the jargon of the “hammock industry”. Portable hammocks for instance. A hammock is a pretty simple thing yeah? Wouldn’t all hammocks be portable? Similarly, if a portable hammock is especially portable, its doubtlessly good for camping. I hear that a lot and it’s not really 100% right.

camping hammockWhen you go camping you have to worry about a few things. Insects, keeping warm, shelter from the rain, etc. You don’t need to worry about that when you’re tossing up spending a few hours kicking back in your Garden Hammock, do you? The Camping Hammock solves these problems. I have a camping hammock – as I go camping a fair bit. It (like every camping hammock I’ve seen) has a mosquito net to keep the bugs out and is particularly open to customization. I’ve got an underquilt, an attachable tarp and an undercover too. A Camping Hammock is kind of like the iPhone of hammocks; you can do almost anything with it.

Portable hammocks are in fact quite different. Sure they’re still that comfy place you could lose a day in, but they are designed for different occasions. A Portable Hammock generally doesn’t come equipped with netting or tarps or anything like that. They are designed to be able to be set up anywhere. But they come with stands that are super compact when folded. Perfect for setting up a hammock on the beach or somewhere you’re struggling to find a tree.

So the differences might be subtle, but they are there. There is a hammock for every occasion, so don’t be caught without your hammock. Grab one today and prepare for comfort.

Try camping with a Camping Hammock

Posted by admin on Dec 14, 2009

Camping is a true joy for some people, myself included. I love camping. For me there is little better than getting out in the wilderness; breathing in the fresh air, escaping from the troubles at work and just relaxing in nature. So it is no big surprise that I plan quite a lot of camping trips. Upon planning one at the beginning of this year a friend told me about camping with a Camping Hammock. At first it sounded a little silly. I mean I love hammocks too, but it didn’t sound so practical. He went on to show me otherwise.

If you’re a camper and you spend a fair amount of time hiking you’ll know the pains of lugging around a heavy pack. Some folks carry a full tent with them, but I normally just carried a tarp and used it to make a bivvy (or a hoochie depending on where you’re from). My pal explained that carrying a hammock just meant that I would be in a hammock under my tarp. I would be off the ground, comfy in a cosy hammock.

This Camping Hammock idea started sounding pretty good. I know full well how rejuvenating a snooze in a hammock can be, just what those muscles need after scaling a mountain or two, so I looked into it.

There are specially made Camping Hammocks. Many have insect netting and some come complete with rain shields and insulation accessories. So I wouldn’t even need my old tarp when I went camping, my Camping Hammock would have one. I checked out some specifications and found out that some complete Camping Hammock kits were lighter than my old tarp and mattress!

Probably the best thing though was the versatility of a Camping Hammock. I didn’t have to look for a level area, free of rocks and sticks and that kind of garbage. I would be just hanging there on a nice hammock; above discomfort. Another thing, I didn’t have to worry about the rising cold and moisture that is inevitable when sleeping on the ground. My current Warbonnet Blackbird is equipped with an underquilt and an undercover, making my back the warmest part now!

Just when I was thinking that camping couldn’t get any better, fate spites me and shows me how to combine it with the Hammock. Try a Camping Hammock out yourself and turn hiking camping into a heaven on earth.
